What is solar PV?
Solar photovoltaics (PV), also known as solar panels, capture and transform daily solar energy into usable electricity for use in commercial and residential properties. A common misconception is that solar panels fail to operate as they should if the sun isn’t directly shining on them. However, the technology involved allows them to generate and store energy in any daylight condition, providing year-round energy production. The brighter the days, the higher the level of energy can be generated. Solar PV can take the form of panels installed upon rooftops or ground-mounted setups. These are then linked to inverters that change the generated current (DC) into a usable current for internal power supplies (AC). Any energy from solar PVs that isn’t used can be stored using a battery.
